Why WECF?
Why WECF
THE WINDSORESSEX COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AND THE LASALLE COMMUNITY FUND
The LaSalle Community Fund Association established The LaSalle Community Fund (“LCF”), a community fund held at the WindsorEssex Community Foundation (“WECF”) to provide a source of lasting support for the community of LaSalle. This means that donations made to support the fund will support projects identified by the LaSalle Community Fund Association for the betterment of the community of LaSalle.
The LCF is an Association, not a foundation, so the LCF chose to partner with the WECF that is a Foundation, in order to be able to provide tax receipts for your donations. Rest assured that all local donations initiated & collected through the efforts of the LCF simply flow through the WECF who only charge a minimal fee to administer the funds and your donation stays in the Town of LaSalle to be used directly towards the designated projects.
The WECF was established in 1983 by a small group of forward-thinking individuals with a vision to solicit donations to provide funds to support waterfront development… and they continued to expand their reach across Windsor & Essex County supporting many projects like waterfront development through endowments, including the Peace Fountain, the Peace Beacon, and Bert Weeks Memorial Garden. Since the WECF’s beginning its continued to expand its reach and support of countless landmarks across Windsor-Essex County, including the Ganatchio Trail Extension, the Ojibway Prairie Complete, Willistead Manor, Charles Clark Square, and the Great Canadian Flag Project.
The LaSalle Community Fund appreciates the opportunity to join with the WindsorEssex Community Foundation and functions as the steward of local funds collected to help support worthy projects within the Town of LaSalle.
