The LCF is a new association, which was officially introduced at a local Announcement Event on Nov. 28, 2022. Active Current Projects will be added when approved, which will stay in this section when completed as Past Projects.
Current Projects
LaSalle Community SCHOLARSHIP Fund-2024/2025
The current goal of the LCF is to establish a LaSalle Community Scholarship Fund for LaSalle students who are graduating from Sandwich Secondary School, or St Thomas of Villanova Secondary School, as-well-as any other Windsor/Essex County high school… and are going on to a post secondary institution in Canada.
In order to set up such a fund we need donations. And as was done in our first project, those donations will be held and managed by the WECF. All donations to the LaSalle Community Scholarship Fund will be used for LaSalle students only.
We are setting up the LaSalle Community Scholarship Fund in such a way that donations will be divided between immediate scholarships starting in June 2025, and for long-term endowment funds to make the fund financially viable now and into perpetuity. We need $10,000 in endowment funds for each $500 scholarship. Based on 3 scholarships (one at Sandwich, one at Villanova, and one Windsor/Essex County-wide) we will need to raise $30,000… and that becomes our target.
Not only will students and their families from LaSalle directly benefit financially… these scholarships will promote Sandwich and Villanova, helping to increase enrollment and protecting existing jobs at our local high schools. What a great way to make a ‘tax deductible’ charitable donation, and invest in LaSalle’s future at the same time.

Past Projects
ENTRANCE GARDEN at LaSalle Event Centre – 2023
A beautiful entrance garden featuring native plants, shrubs, and trees will welcome visitors to the new ‘LaSalle Landing’ Event Centre located at 970 Front Road in LaSalle. The garden will invite residents and visitors to take some time to connect with our natural environment.
The Entrance Garden Project was initiated by the WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) who ‘in commemoration of their 40th Anniversary’ offered to donate $15,000 to the Town of LaSalle to be used to enhance the current major LaSalle endeavor along the Detroit River WaterFront. They were looking for matching funds, and the new LaSalle Community Fund (LCF) has partnered with the LaSalle Horticultural Society in a Fundraiser to provide the additional $15,000.
